BACK TO BACK TO BACK
Of tomorrow for a twenty day tour of Britain and Ireland followed by a sixteen day tour of same (similar itineraries but second tour does not go to Northern Ireland) then two days off and a twelve day Britain and Ireland. Seven weeks of work with hardly a break, therefore. Is this a life, I ask?
Sort of. On tour, it can actually be quite restful being, just concentrating on the group and what they are doing. You have to get up every morning in time to get ready for the day - checking luggage, organising the coach, paying bills - but this is not that hard in the summer, when sleeping late is not so attractive. Off tour, there is always a long list of things to do, people to see, places to visit. I was up at five thrity this morning to work on the garden for an hour or so, then shower, breakfast, pack for tomorrow, haircut, collect dry cleaning, into the office to collect file and new computer for passenger feedback, make some more phone calls, try and fit in a film, etc.
That word 'etc' covers a lot of life outside tour. I would never want to live a touring life permanently but sometimes it can be something to look forward to. Now must remember to set the alarm for five tomorrow morning...
