All work and no play...
One day off in four weeks so bushed by the time I got back tonight. Once you get into the rhythm the tours go fairly well but you have no time for friends, family, hobbies - only the occasional film, a chapter of a book or the World Cup. Don not watch much telly at home - don't even have one in winter residence - but cannot make the mental effort to detach myself from concerns of tour when on the road.
Have always maintained friends outside the business but they understand little of the all consuming nature of the job of tour directing, so I swing from total involvement to comlete detachment. Still, it is gratifying when you hear people clapping at end of tour and offering decent tips.
Reminds me, must do my tax return and pay last year's bill soon...
